Who (and how) to follow at Ironman Texas

Ironman Texas will be the first full-distance Ironman triathlon in the Ironman Pro Series, giving Ironman specialists a leg up after 70.3 Oceanside. In addition to the Ironman Texas livestream on Outside Watch, live tracking for the pro and age-group races will be available through the Ironman Tracker app for iOS and Android. Who will you be following? A few highlights from the Ironman Texas start list:

  • Three past Ironman Texas champions will look to take back the title: Kat Matthews (2023) and Jocelyn McCauley (2022) in the professional women’s race, and two-time winner Matt Hanson (2018, 2017).
  • Ironman World Champion Patrick Lange will also be in the hunt for points toward the Ironman Pro Series end-of-year bonus. But he’ll have to pull off a big win if he wants to gain ground on the professional men ahead of him after 70.3 Oceanside, including Hanson, Braden Currie, and Joe Skipper (GBR).
  • Fenella Langridge, Danielle Lewis, and Joanna Ryter will be racing their second Ironman Pro Series event, and with up to 5,000 points on the line, they’ll be looking to bank as much as they can.
  • After placing second at Ironman Texas and ninth at the Ironman World Championship in Nice last year, Poland’s Robert Wilkowiecki is entering his 2024 season with confidence – and laser focus on bagging his first Ironman victory.
