Five Additional Days of Preseason Practice Granted for DI Women’s Volleyball
The NCAA Division I Committee for Legislative Relief approved a blanket waiver to permit member institutions to begin practice sessions in women’s volleyball 22 days before the first scheduled regular-season intercollegiate contest. The blanket waiver is effective for the 2024-25 academic year. Full details here.
The AVCA is proud to announce its 2024 Division III Men’s Volleyball All-Region teams and award winners. Each of the four All-Region teams includes 14 players, and a Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, and Coach of the Year were selected for each region.
The 2024 Division III Men’s Championship bracket is out! All matches will be broadcast live on NCAA.com. 16 teams will compete for a spot in the title match on April 28 in Dubuque, Iowa.
The eight 2024 NAIA Women’s Beach Volleyball Invitational qualifiers have been announced. Teams will battle for the red banner in Greeneville, TN April 25-27 with a single-elimination bracket following pool play.
The 2024 AVCA Small College Beach Championships were held April 12–14 in Tavares, Florida. With 29 colleges from 15 states, 425 matches, and a multitude of partnerships, this event has solidified its position as the largest collegiate beach volleyball tournament in the nation! The Finger Lakes Community College men’s volleyball team made history claiming their second-consecutive NJCAA Men’s Volleyball National Invitational Championship in a 3-1 victory over Monroe College on Sunday. Recap here. Congratulations, Lakers!

Applications will be accepted through May 1, 2024. The convention will be held December 18-21 in Louisville, KY. The AVCA Top Flight program, now in its sixth year, recognizes collegiate beach pairs who compete in at least 15 matches together at a specific flight and win at least 75% of their matches. Nominate athletes here. Deadlines:

The AVCA Match Point Mentoring Program is designed exclusively for volleyball coaches at all levels of expertise. Our program centers on creating mentoring trios where these coaches serve as both mentors and mentees to create a collaborative learning experience. Applications for the 2024-2025 program will close April 30, and Trios will be announced in Mid-June.

Olympic Qualifier Updates – 100 Days ‘Til Paris!
Beach Volleyball 101: U.S. Olympic roster and athlete news The United States can qualify up to two teams for both men’s and women’s beach volleyball. Both women’s pairings have been finalized, while the qualification for Team USA’s men’s beach volleyball team will be finalized upon the world rankings posted after June 10. Check out updates here!
The U.S. Men’s Sitting Team fell to Ukraine in the final of the 2024 World ParaVolley Qualifier. The second-place finish with a 6-2 record means that the team will not compete at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. The U.S. Women’s Sitting Team punched their ticket to Paris back in May, and were the first U.S. team to qualify for the 2024 Games in any sport.
Olympic matches for the U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Teams will begin July 27. Gold medal matches are scheduled for August 9-11. Overview here.

After playing 15 years abroad, Jordan Larson is returning home. The Husker legend will play with LOVB Omaha for the league’s inaugural season next year.
The signing will allow Larson to continue her coaching career with Nebraska and attempt to make Team USA for the Paris Olympics this summer. Other recent LOVB player announcements here.
Tickets for the inaugural Pro Volleyball Federation championship are now available. The event will be held at the CHI Health Center in Omaha on May 15 and May 18. The top four teams at the conclusion of the regular season will converge on Omaha to compete for the Pro Volleyball League crown. More details here.
